Garrett Neske, Ph.D (Principal Investigator). Garrett began in the field of neuroscience as an undergraduate at the Center for Neural Science at NYU, where he developed computational models of auditory processing with John Rinzel. He did his doctoral work at Brown University with Barry Connors, focusing on the contributions of inhibitory interneuron diversity to spontaneous neuronal activity in the cortex. He then started as a postdoctoral associate at Yale University, working in the lab of David McCormick, studying the state-dependence of visual cortical activity and visual perception. He completed his postdoctoral work in the lab of Jess Cardin at Yale, determining the distinct functions of cortical and thalamic axon projections in the activity of neurons in higher-order regions of the visual cortex. He joined the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in the University at Buffalo in 2023.
